Hello Sailor – 4:00PM-5:00PM

Demand for Hello Sailor has grown and last summer’s gigs included them sharing stages with the cream of Kiwi music. From The Biggest Pub Gig in the World at Spark Arena in December to a series of outdoor festivals in early 2021 that saw them play to over 50,000 people alongside Hammond Gamble, th’ Dudes, Citizen Band, Anika Moa, Dragon, Jordan Luck, Stellar*, Gin Wigmore, Zed and Stan Walker among others. Confirmed for January 2022 are the Kick Down Festival in Whangamata with Shihad and Devil Skin, and The Great Kiwi Beer Festival in Christchurch. Harry Lyon has fond memories of the GKBF in 2015; “It turned out to be Graham’s last Hello Sailor gig so being asked to play the festival again is a special honour for the rest of us. We had a great tine and we will be bringing the spirit of 2015 to the show in January.”

Hello Sailor in 2023 is dedicated to keeping the music and memory of Dave McArtney and Graham Brazier alive and the current line-up is as close as fans will get to the band’s classic sound. Powered by the indomitable rhythm section of Rick Ball on drums and Paul Woolright on bass, they have the Sailor energy and attitude. Harry Lyon and Jimmy Taylor take care of the weaving guitars, Stephen Small on piano and Andy Dixon on saxophone complete the package. Their shows feature Hello Sailor, Pink Flamingos and Graham Brazier favourites, hit songs from Harry’s back catalogue and his 2018 critically acclaimed hit solo-album “To the Sea”.
